WHY IS STEPPING INTO YOUR OWN IS SUPPOSED TO BE HARD?
Now, what does that mean? I can imagine only that puzzled look that rests upon your face. I know, when I first thought of the title, I was also puzzled. As in, why did I just type this. Let me tell you this: I had been through many experiences, had done enough self destructive decisions, and listened to my own thoughts tell me “ GIVE UP! You’re not worth it” right when I was on the verge of a breakthrough. I completely get it. When those cyclic phrases repeatedly cycle through my head right before I venture into the unknown, that when I know it’s only fear that is trying to diverge me from making progress. What I am trying to point out to you is that yes, making decisions for yourself, stepping into your own being is supposed to be hard. Once you do, there is no turning back. When it gets hard, know that you are more than halfway there to the finish line. So why stop now? I get it. I sense the fear creeping in, reminding you of any sort of weakness or insecurity you may have. And right now, that fear base thought, it’s just an thought pattern that needs to be broken. Once it’s broken, it’ll bring forth a vibrant woman that you are!
So, why are we so scared for things to be hard, like loving yourself and stepping into the beautiful woman that I know you are?
If any lady who has taken her first step into the unknown and begins her journey of self love, knows that it isn’t just about looking good naked. Am I right? I mean, I am sure that thought had crossed every woman's mind at some point. Yes, looking good naked is an added bonus, but when you begin to deeply love yourself so strongly, there is something inherently different about your energy. I’ve witnessed it, even within myself, that with the deep love for self, you begin to glow. The deep and compassionate love that is within, begins to show with the way you carry yourself, how you speak and the way you love. To me it’s almost like when you watch an artist create their masterpiece, and you can feel the passion and love from their soul they put into their piece. With the love they have for themselves, their soul and beauty within is made stronger and more resilient. They’ve exposed themselves to the world that was hard at the beginning but truly made them shine.
Are you up for the challenge?
Isn’t that why we nurture ourselves, through when we care for our mind, body and spirit? We opt into these moments of struggle with self love with exercise or some other mode of well being that demand time to nurture the soul. I want you to remember that every time you are faced with a challenge, there is always a lesson and it demands that a decision needs to be taken.
Your fear is what causes you to question yourself. It gives us no other choice but to ignore our truest self, to take the safe road, to stay in your comfort zone. Fear dampens that spark of change. It tells you to that tomorrow you’ll start working out, you’ll eat healthier next week, you deserve to binge eat, and to numb out your insecurities. It tells you to think that you’re not good enough. Don’t be afraid of fear. Question it, instead of listening to it. What if instead of letting it back you into a corner you smile at it, embrace it with love and compassion. What if, instead of letting it talk you down to where you are weak and vulnerable, you said “ Watch me, fear. This is a challenge, and I am happy to take it on.” What if you said that?
WHAT IF I TOLD YOU THAT ADMITTING TO YOUR FEAR GIVES YOU A SENSE OF FREEDOM?
Sounds silly right? Whenever a fearful or destructive thought comes in my mind, right in the mess of it, right when my fear tells me “ YOU CAN’T,” I admit to it, “ I am scared, and I”m doing it anyway. It’s an uncomfortable feeling when you tell fear that you’re scared, but doing it anyway. You are in a vulnerable state. It feels like the floor has been pulled out from under you and you’re falling. That’s okay, because you are falling into a vortex of infinite possibilities. There are so many possibilities when you step over fear, but what holds you back is that you continue to let fear step on you. Even though there are infinite possibilities of goodness that could happen when you question yourself and let fear back you into a corner, and override you.
Once you put your foot down, and tell your fear “ No! I’m doing it anyway” there is a different kind not power. It’s like you stepped into YOU! When we take ownership of struggle, when we say, “yes!” and step up instead, we overcome our weaknesses. When we implement this mindset to overcome fear in our everyday life, we get comfortable with looking fear in the eye, and then you’ll feel the power within you.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t exercise or eat healthy to stay in the same boxed in mindset, thinking that i’ll stay safe in my comfort zone. No way! Jose. I don’t take care of my mind, body and spirit because it’s easy. I do this, because it brings confidence, and change into my life. Let life be challenging and messy. Make mistakes, but know that every obstacle you overcome, you had looked fear in the eyes and told it to stand down. You walked over fear! Embrace that power within.
What if I told you that what you desire, what you’ve craved is on the other side of fear! We get to that point by going through that mess, by standing your ground even if it has been swept up from under you.
Fear is just an illusion that stops you from becoming who you truly are. It casts a shadow over your light. It keeps you in your comfort zone, tries to hold you tightly because of its own insecurity and vulnerability. Let the illusion go, believe in yourself that you can walk past fear with a smile, a twinkle in your eye, and maybe wink at it to let it know that you’ve got it. There’s no turning back.
So, with my pep talk, I want you to step into being afraid, embrace the change, and keep on moving forward. You’ve got this!
